Introduction

This guide might hopefully help you gain some visitors at your site. Of course, the results from this guide may vary to everyone, but we'll try our best to be as accurate as possible. ^^;

Before you advertise

Your site should be opened before you adverised.. if it's coming soon, the visitors might not remember to come back when it's open. So we recommend a complete, finished site with a decent layout.

The Methods

Okay, so you want your site to be noticed.. where do you start? Here are some sites or things you can do to get started on advertising your site...

1. Plugboards
2. Button Rotations
3. Directories
4. Guestbooks / Tagboards
5. Affiliates, and Link Exchanges
6. YOU telling your friends and family!

General Site Tips

1. Have an easy-to-remember site name. It may bring returning visitors.
2. Be Nice! People will not visit a site owned by someone rude to others.
3. Include some visitor content.
4. Don't steal, redistribute without permission, and remember to give credit.
5. Your layout should not hurt your visitor's eyes! Bright colors may be bad..
6. Don't type in sticky caps. It may be hard for visitors to understand what you may be telling them. (tHis iz an exAmpl3 0f St1cky cApz.) 7.. Lastly, be unique and original. Be yourself. =)

Plugboard Method

This method, in our opinion, might not be a good place to find a lot of visitors, but a great way to start. Mostly the people who visit plugboards are the web-owners themselves who want their own sites advertised as well. But, the good thing is, they might stop by and decide to visit some sites and advertise from there!
They might even pick your site, but there's no guarantee since there are a lot of buttons at plugboards.

Tips
- Your button should be attractive. (No colors that hurt people's eyes, and don't make it too flashy. Make it simple yet easy to look at)
- Your site name should be on the button. Sometimes, a good site name can attract visitors.
- Make decorations for your button! (Add shapes, decorative words, pictures, patterns, and even brushes! Get creative)

Button Rotation Method

Button Rotations are sites that have a code to rotate people's sites by rotating their buttons. Different Button Rotations vary.. sometimes they will only rotate your site, depending on the amount of credits you have.

Tips
- Have an attractive button. (Applies to all the tips in Plugboard Method)
- You should link the Button Rotation Code somewhere your visitors can see them, so you can get credits. But don't link your Button Rotations on a lot of pages.. that may be cheating. (Click Here for Info)

Directories Method

Directories are probably more helpful than Button Rotations. Directories are sites that list other sites, into categories.
Example: If you want to find more directories, you would go to a Directory site and click on the category, Directories. It will show a list of other sites that are directories.

Tips
- Join a lot of directories.. they may not guarantee you many hits, but join as much as you can.

Guestbook / Tagboards Method

Sometimes this can get you more hits than plugboards. In tagboards and guestbooks, if you leave your comment along with your site URL, other people who sign the guestbook will see your site URL and may visit your site that way.
Note: Sometimes you shouldn't tell the web-owners, "Visit my site!!" , they may get annoyed, but I don't know.

Tips:
- Don't just say "Hi, Great Website!". You should add more to that! Make your comment different from everyone else's.

Link Exchanges / Affiliates

This is a great way to get hits. You meet new people, but also, you get visitors from your affiliates/link exchanges' site. You shouldn't be too picky on deciding your affiliates and link exchanges, but that all depends on what kinds of sites you want theirs to be. You may want them to be the same type of site as yours.

Tips
- Think before you accept an Affiliate or Link Exchange: Do they have a reasonable amount of pages? Do they have content for visitors, and also, would they have an impact on your site?
- If you are the one looking for an Affiliate or Link Exchange, you should be the one with good pages of content.
- Be friendly with your Affiliates or Link Exchanges. Would they want to advertise a site that has a rude site owner?

Last Method. By WORD

Last but not least, you can advertise your site by yourself. Tell your friends, family, and relatives. They would want to see your awesome knowledge and great creation ^^

Tips:
- Tell them by e-mail.
- Say it by word yourself. Give them your site URL. Hopefully they can remember it.

Conclusion

Of course, there are many other ways than these. Join fanlistings, cliques, etc. Think of your own ways as well. ^^
