Glitter Tutorial

Want to create your very own glitter, but you don't know how to? Follow this simple step by step tutorial on how to create glitter text in PSP!

Step One

Find a Glitter Fill from any sites that offer them. You can use our glitter fills here, just remember to credit where you got the fills from. Save the glitter fill. We will be using this fill:

Step Two

Open up PSP and Animation Shop. On Animation Shop, open up your glitter fill, and it should appear with frames..something like below:

Click on the first glitter frame. Right-click and click COPY (or press CTRL+C). Then go to PSP and paste it (or press CTRL+V). Keep doing this to all the frames, and the three frames should all end up in PSP like below:

Step Three

Open up a new document, and make the dimensions 500x500 so you have enough space to work with. Make sure its marked Transparent.

Click on the Text Tool (the icon is a letter "A"), and click somewhere on the blank document. A pop up should appear, type your text. For this tutorial we're going to type, "Cookies." Make sure your text is highlighted. On the right side, click on the Background Fill Properties, which is the bottom one.

A pop-up should appear, so click on Pattern Tab. Click on the Current Pattern, and you should find your three glitter fills in the list. Click on the first glitter fill image, and press ok.

It turned out like this so far:

Step Four

Wouldn't the glitter be better if it were outlined?? Make the Stroke Width 1.0 px, as shown below:

If you would like to change the color of the Stroke, click on Foreground & Stroke Properties, which is above the Background Fill Properties. We will make our stroke aqua, since it will match the glitter fill itself. Press okay if you are satisfied.

Step Five

Hm, there seems to be a bunch of space left. We don't need that extra space, so click on the Crop Tool and crop your image, deciding how big you want the glitter to be, like below. Double click:

This is how it appears double-clicked (the crop tool removed the unwanted space):

There you go! Your first glitter frame. Click CTRL+A to select all, and there should be "marching ants" around it. Then go to Edit>>Copy Merged. Go to Animation Shop and paste. Drag the window bigger so there are more frames soon to come:

Step Six

Okay, now for the confusing part. Go to PSP, and you can see a "Layer Panel" below. Make sure you are on the layer, "Vector 1." There should be a [+] beside it, click on it:

Once you've clicked on the [+] you should see your text, in our case, "cookies." Right click on it, and click Edit Text.

When you clicked "Edit Text," the same pop-up should appear where you type your text. Its not important, just keep your text. Go to the Background Fill Properties again and change the pattern to the Second Fill. Press ok, and Select All, and Copy Merged like you did on the first fill. Go back to Animation shop, and right click on the first image, and press "paste after current frame." The two different fills should be there. Repeat Step Six to do it for the third frame now =]

The finished result should appear like this:

Save the image, and YIPEE!!! You've just made your glitter!!
